Which hardware plug-ins do others like to use, what do they pay attention to when producing their music, how is their studio set up? When working with labels, producing remixes or at live events, one thing quickly became clear to our host Rüdiger Keller: everyone has their own style, not only musically, but also when it comes to creators. This led to the idea ... hey... let‘s make a podcast on this!
Talking to musicians face-to-face
The concept is simple: each show features a producer and three of his tracks. We talk about his approach to producing, tools and techniques and, most importantly, the fun of it all. It doesn‘t matter how successful the guests are. What counts is what they have to say. We talk about technology, production methods, views and also one or another hot tips for the studio.
GUEST IN THE CURRENT EPISODE: CONSCIENCE
üdiger Illg has been musically active in many different projects and roles since 1990. His main project, Conscience, celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2021. He is a trained sound engineer and, in addition to his projects, is also involved as a producer, mixer, remixer and guest musician in other bands such as Portash, Stian Shiver, TET and others. His work ranges from radio plays to rock productions. The main focus of the instruments are always electronic sound generators, which is expressed alongside Conscience as well in the ambient/instrumental project Science O.C.N.. His influences are correspondingly diverse: These range from Tangerine Dream and Biosphere to the Synthpop of the 80s, EBM, Darkwave, IDM or even artists like Devin Townsend and Steven Wilson. For Conscience, guest vocalists like Colin Angus (The Shamen) and Dan Söderqvist (Twice a man) could also be won over. Over the years, a multi-layered back catalog has emerged. While the first releases were still available on rare tapes and later on CD, all releases are now available on the relevant streaming platforms. In the podcast, you can hear two tracks from the current Conscience album „Sentient“ and one track from the current Science O.C.N. album „On the shores of frozen time“. And, of course, it‘s about a lot of studio technology again - how does Rüdiger work and how does he make this sound? So, see you soon in the podcast, we are looking forward to it!
See you in the podcast!
