Free JP-8000 Roland clone – now available as a plug-in

Trance enthusiasts in particular will remember the legendary sounds of the Roland JP-8000 and JP-8080. The developer collective The Usual Suspects has released JE-8086, a free software synthesizer plug-in that faithfully emulates these sounds. The two virtual instruments are among the defining sounds of the late 90s trance and EDM scene, not least because of their iconic SuperSaw oscillators. Unlike many other VST synths, JE-8086 is not based on reprogramming the sound generation, but emulates the original DSP chip at the code level and uses the original firmware of the hardware.

However, the original firmware is not included and must be purchased separately. In terms of sound, the plug-in is very close to the original and therefore very authentic. Visually, the user interface is also very similar to the original hardware. The highlight: the parameters and presets are also compatible with the original JP presets for export and import.
